Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American anchor for a television newscast and a commentary anchor for NBC News based in Washington D.C. Growing up living in New York City, Mitchell received a degree in English literature at the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her professional career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. Mitchell joined CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. Two years later she became a general reporter for NBC News in Washington. She started covering the White House in 1981 and was appointed chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was promoted to the Chief White House correspondent in 1992. and the chief correspondent for foreign affairs at NBC News. Mitchell was a guest as a guest on TV news show Meet the Press as a panelist and host. She was on the panel of the 1988 presidential debates that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for excellence in the field of journalism. In 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell was a reporter on a range of important stories including the Iran-Contra scandal as well as the tax reforms to the budget and the arms control. Mitchell traveled along with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan many times for summits, and to discuss issues such as the Iran Contra controversy.
