Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on the 26th of March in 1991. She's an American singer-songwriter and the first artist to be signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. In October 2016 Ari Lennox dropped her Pho EP. This was the moment that she received recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released on May 19, 2019. Ari Lennox first posted music online in 2012. She released her debut album Ariography as well as her debut mixtape in 2013 with the mixtape Five Finger Discount. In 2014, Ari Lennox dropped her single Bound, as well as her self-released mixtape Five Finger Discount. She was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as in Sweat It Out on July 21, 2015. The following year, her music was circulating all over the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some potential references to Rihanna. The announcement of her decision to sign with Dreamville Records was made on December 8th. Backseat is a track that she recorded with Cozz on the Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. Her Pho EP was released on her debut album on the 21st of October the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change and also performed on The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as an opening performance. In 2018, she was able to guest feature on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video to accompany it was also released on September 5th. In November, she dropped two singles, forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. Then, in November 2013, she dropped No One, and Pedigree. She was featured with Cole on The Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby the 16th of November 16th, and released the song in a solo version for the album she released her debut. A music video was released on February 20, 2019 in conjunction with the song. Within a week, it had over 3 million views. The singer was a part of the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December the year 2018.
